I like the way the chocolate shavings provide camouflage for the torte—to ensure its survival until you choose to consume it. I just finished a story about a cake, entitled "The Elusive Cake," which I am publishing on my Substack on January 14th that you may enjoy consuming with your eyes...
I think the recipe is missing when the golden syrup is added - I’m assuming it’s stirred through once the chocolate and cream are combined for the ganache?
I made this for myself for my birthday today and it was delicious! The presentation left something to be desired as I did a very bad job of cutting the cake into even layers. But the taste was great, I thought it had just the right amount of peppermint. Thank you for the recipe.
Thank you so much for this, very accommodating of you!
Thank you so much for the recipe!
Made this last night !!!! It is DELICIOUS. Although I did over mix the cake and it was a bit dense. 😔 Lesson learned.
Any suggestions for double cream substitutes? It's nearly impossible find in the US.
Heavy cream is your closest substitute, will work fine in this recipe
Edd Kimber, there is a pdf of this recipe? Thanks

Apologies, it’s added to the cream in the pan
Perfect, thanks so much!

Have you tried baking this in a quarter sheet pan?
