Great recommendations. As a (former) Seattle resident, just a word of advice, don't forget to watch your step- Seattle and the greater Seattle area (Ballard included) is filled with criminals who are homeless and drug addicted.

I lived in Ballard from 2005-2015. You nailed the description and did yourself a great service by choosing it as your home base while in Seattle. I would have suggested Java Bean, which makes the best "egg-el" sandwich I've ever had anywhere, but the two bakeries you review here weren't even open when I lived there! So much changing all the time. I've watched every episode of British Baking at least twice by the way - super fan - so thanks for taking me back to Ballard in your perspective!

We spent time in Seattle just prior to Covid and absolutely loved it. Pikes Market was fabulous and you are right with the food choices. We also stayed in Ballard which we found walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. Did feel like we had gone everywhere north, south, west and east. Certainly our feet felt it. I have never eaten a bagel but your descriptions sound like I have missed out on something delicious. Loving your work!
